Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students marched through cities across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an ongoing student movement. Classes were cancelled at several campuses as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron called an emergency meeting with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the street protests. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were fighting for improved conditions, with many expressing frustration at current conditions.
