Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is seriously weighing a run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by John Cornyn, according to sources speaking to FOX 4 News in Dallas.
Statewide polls indicate that Crockett leads the Democratic primary field, ahead of candidates such as former U.S. Representative James Talarico. On the Republican side, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton holds a narrow advantage over incumbent Senator John Cornyn for the nomination.
In mid-October, Crockett stated in a FOX News interview that her decision would depend on upcoming court rulings concerning newly redrawn congressional districts in Texas and further polling analysis. These new maps aim to create five additional Republican seats in the U.S. House and could alter Crockett's current district if upheld by the courts.
"I’m still waiting on a final ruling on the new Texas Congressional District maps before making a decision."
The redistricting effort is a significant political development and could reshape the electoral landscape in Texas.
