Pringles has unveiled a new toy line as part of its “Once You Pop, The Pop Don’t Stop” campaign, marking the snack brand’s debut in direct-to-consumer sales. The release capitalizes on the growing trend of blind box collectibles, popularized by toy series like Calico Critters, Sonny Angel, and Labubu.
Fans of collectible toys have embraced these surprise boxes with enthusiasm. On TikTok, the hashtag #SonnyAngel has gathered more than 424,000 posts, and videos of unboxings have racked up over a million likes each. Now, after completing series like Sonny Angel’s Cherry Blossom edition or Labubu’s Why So Serious collection, collectors can take on a new playful challenge from Pringles.
The brand will release its Once You Pop mystery boxes on Friday, each featuring one of six Pringamabob figures that also function as keychains. The collection includes characters such as Crispybara, a capybara-shaped figure, Crunchback Whale, and the ultra-rare Snaxolotyl, shaped like an axolotl. There’s also Duckalips, inspired by the popular fan practice of placing Pringles chips over their mouths to mimic duck bills.
“One of the biggest things happening in culture right now – it’s increasing by the day and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon – are the unboxings of Labubus and Jellycats. We’re always looking for opportunities to tap into what’s happening in culture in a way that’s original and unique to the brand,” said Pringles’ U.S. marketing lead Mauricio Jenkins.
Pringles enters the collectible toy world with its playful Pringamabob blind boxes, merging snack culture and surprise unboxing trends into one creative campaign.
