The Lutheran community in Indonesia dedicated this year’s Reformation Day events to honor 25 years of vibrant witness, unity, and transformative work through The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) member churches.
The LWF member churches in Indonesia marked a silver jubilee of sharing faith, witness, and service in the spirit of the Reformation. These celebrations took place from October 30 to November 2, culminating in a Reformation Day worship service on October 31 in Gunungsitoli, the capital of the Nias Islands, attended by about 3,000 people.
Rev. Berman Maeda Situmorang, Director of the LWF National Committee in Indonesia (KN-LWF), which includes 14 churches, highlighted the churches’ approach:
“By integrating theology, diakonia, and public witness, the Indonesian Lutheran churches offer a hopeful and relevant model of inclusivity, justice, education, and interfaith harmony.”
The churches have grown through a deepened theology, contextual ministry, and dedicated service to society.
The KN-LWF, the LWF National Committee in Indonesia, consists of 14 Lutheran churches working together to impact society positively through faith and service.
