WASHINGTON — A press conference in the Oval Office was abruptly interrupted Thursday when Gordon Findlay, global brand director for Novo Nordisk, suddenly collapsed during remarks about a new initiative to reduce drug prices.
President Donald Trump was addressing the media alongside executives from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk regarding an agreement to lower costs and expand coverage for obesity medications Zepbound and Wegovy.
As Eli Lilly CEO David Ricks spoke, he paused and turned toward Findlay, calling out:
“Are you okay? Gordon, are you okay?”
Findlay then fell to his knees. Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, quickly rushed to assist him as President Trump and other officials looked on. Members of the press were immediately escorted from the room.
Health and Human Services officials confirmed that Findlay received prompt medical attention at the scene.
Approximately thirty minutes later, the briefing resumed. President Trump informed reporters that the executive was stable and recovering.
During an Oval Office briefing on reducing drug costs, Dr. Mehmet Oz helped rescue Novo Nordisk’s Gordon Findlay after his sudden collapse, briefly halting the event.
