JJ Redick believes the Los Angeles Lakers have fully embraced being connected both on and off the court, which contributes to their enjoyable team dynamic. This connection has been evident through their fight every game and strong chemistry.
Despite numerous injuries, the Lakers have started the season with a 7-2 record, the second-best in the Western Conference behind the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have drawn significant attention, but others like Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, Rui Hachimura, and Nick Smith Jr. have also made notable contributions. Regardless of who shines on any given night, the team consistently supports each other, reflecting their close bond.
“It doesn’t always work this way, but sometimes the things you emphasize and the things that you make a daily priority becomes your team, and that doesn’t always happen, but that was a priority for us coming into this season,” Redick said after Wednesday night’s win over the San Antonio Spurs. “Whether it’s been some off-court activities, the Pecha Kucha, we’re just constantly encouraging and empowering our guys to get connected."
The Lakers have made efforts to build connection through activities beyond basketball, emphasizing team bonding as a critical component of their approach.
The Lakers’ focus on connection both on and off the court, as emphasized by Coach JJ Redick, has created a supportive and resilient team culture driving their strong start.
