The US military carried out a new strike in the Caribbean on Thursday under the direction of President Trump, resulting in the deaths of three individuals identified as narco-terrorists. The operation was confirmed by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
“As we’ve said before, vessel strikes on narco-terrorists will continue until their poisoning of the American people stops,” said Secretary Hegseth on X.
His statement was accompanied by declassified footage showing a boat moving at sea before being struck and destroyed. Hegseth provided further details about the operation.
“Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization,” he said.
According to Hegseth, the targeted vessel was transporting narcotics through international waters. All three men aboard were killed, and no US forces were harmed during the operation.
“To all narco-terrorists who threaten our homeland: if you keep trafficking deadly drugs, we will kill you,” Hegseth warned.
Officials reported that the ongoing campaign has so far eliminated 70 individuals and destroyed 18 boats in an effort to curb the flow of illegal drugs into the United States. The strategy, which has drawn some controversy, relies on deploying US Navy vessels across the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific to target trafficking routes at sea.
The US military, following President Trump’s directive, struck a drug-smuggling vessel in the Caribbean, killing three traffickers as part of an expanded anti-narcotics campaign.
