RFK Jr. Promises New Dietary Guidelines Will Transform U.S. Food Culture

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that the federal government will release new dietary guidelines next month, aiming to reshape the nation’s food habits and health policies.

“We’re about to release dietary guidelines that are going to change the food culture in this country,” Kennedy said. “They’re going to change the kind of food the military gets. They’re going to change the kind of food that our children get.”

Kennedy made the statement during President Donald Trump’s news conference at the Oval Center, which also featured the federal government’s new agreement with pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Co. and Novo Nordisk. The deal will significantly lower the cost of prescription weight-loss medications on TrumpRx, the government’s prescription drug platform.

Kennedy has previously criticized drugs such as Ozempic, arguing they fail to address the real causes of obesity—poor diet and lack of physical activity. He once opposed including weight-loss medications in Medicaid coverage but has since adjusted his position, acknowledging their usefulness while maintaining that they are not “a silver bullet.”

The details of the upcoming dietary guideline overhaul remain undisclosed, and the Department of Health and Human Services has yet to comment further on the initiative.
