Nissan rookie and simulator driver Abbi Pulling has revealed her aspirations to compete full-time in Formula E. She spoke to the media during the yearly Formula E Women’s Test about her goal to join the grid permanently.
Having driven the GEN3 Evo multiple times, including at the Berlin rookie test earlier this year, Pulling, the reigning F1 Academy champion, impressed again during the two test sessions at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
“Formula E is something that is really attractive, and I'd like to one day be a driver in this series,” Pulling said. “It's a World Championship, and it’s the pinnacle at the end of the day.”
She added that while no long-term plans have been set with Nissan yet, they are working together to help her gain experience and improve her performance, which could open the door to a full-time opportunity.
“With Nissan, we've not discussed that far ahead yet, but we're working together to get to the point where I can go on and gather some experience and keep getting better, to open up that potential if I'm able to perform.”
Pulling acknowledged the pressure she faces but praised the support from Nissan, emphasizing her current focus on learning and refining her race techniques as their simulator and rookie driver.
“Obviously, that's a bit of pressure on me, but they're giving me lots of support, and hopefully that can keep progressing in the future. But at the moment, I'm purely just the simulator and rookie driver and just constantly learning, practicing a lot of the technique for the race run.”
Pulling was the fastest driver in the inaugural Women’s Test held in Madrid last season and continued to showcase her speed at the Valencia event.
Author’s summary: Abbi Pulling’s strong test performances underline her clear ambition to secure a full-time Formula E drive, supported by Nissan's commitment to her growth in the championship.
