As part of his Senior Capstone project and duties as captain of the Newtown High School varsity baseball team, Jack Carta organized a youth home run derby fundraiser this fall to support the Everytown Foundation, an organization dedicated to ending gun violence.
The Newtown Home Run Derby was held at the Glander Baseball Complex and welcomed young players in the 10U and 12U age groups. Participants enjoyed a sunny day of community fun with free T-shirts and prizes for top performers. Every player had eight outs to score as many home runs as possible.
Each division winner received a full-sized, custom-engraved trophy bat from Tucci Limited and a gift card for a personalized Tucci game bat.
The event drew strong participation and local enthusiasm. Through registration fees, business contributions, and community donations, Carta successfully raised over $1,500 for the Everytown Foundation.
"Through creativity, teamwork, and dedication, the event turned a simple baseball competition into meaningful support for an important cause."
Jack Carta transformed his senior project into a successful charitable event, raising funds and awareness for gun violence prevention through a youth baseball derby.
