An unborn child died following a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Highway 29 in Cantonment, authorities reported. The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection with West Roberts Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a woman driving a sedan was traveling south when her vehicle collided with a pickup truck heading north. The pregnant driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where medical staff confirmed the unborn child did not survive.
The truck’s driver, a man from Molino, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Traffic along Highway 29 remained partially closed for several hours as investigators examined the crash site.
Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision and whether factors such as speed or impairment may have contributed to the accident. No charges had been filed as of Sunday evening.
