Anthropic and Iceland announce one of the world’s first national AI education pilots

Anthropic and Iceland Launch National AI Education Pilot

Anthropic and Iceland's Ministry of Education and Children have announced a partnership to introduce the AI assistant Claude to teachers nationwide. The initiative is among the first large-scale national programs focused on artificial intelligence in education.

Teachers from every region of Iceland, from Reykjavik to the country’s most remote areas, will receive access to advanced AI tools designed to assist with lesson planning, resource development, and classroom support.

The pilot includes access to AI technology, educational resources, training programs, and a network of professional support aimed at enhancing teaching quality and easing administrative workloads.

“We're proud to partner with Iceland's Ministry of Education and Children to help teachers save time and create better learning experiences for their students,” said Anthropic's Head of Public Sector Thiyagu Ramasamy.
“This initiative exemplifies how governments can harness AI to enhance public services while preserving their core values. For too long, teachers have been weighed down by paperwork and administrative tasks—hidden burdens that pull them away from what they do best: teaching.”
