Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that What Happens At Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is scheduled to begin filming in 2026. The actress shared her excitement about reuniting with DiCaprio for Scorsese’s latest project.
The movie marks the 27th feature-length film in Scorsese’s career. The story follows an American couple who travel to a snowy European city to adopt a child, only to face a chain of eerie and surreal events. The film is adapted from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name.
In Cameron’s novel, the protagonists encounter a vivid cast of characters, including:
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Besides the confirmed involvement of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, no other casting details have been revealed. Lawrence commented on the production timeline, explaining to IndieWire:
“Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. Leo and I worked together on Don’t Look Up.”
