Guidry grew up in Galliano, where his talent was recognized early. His parents enrolled him in Talented and Gifted programs after noticing his skill, and he credits his family, especially his mother, for nurturing his talent.
Moving to Lafayette for college, Guidry found that the local environment shaped both his artistic training and his connection to the regional arts scene. He notes falling in love with the area and its educational opportunities as part of his artistic development.
Despite strong support at home and in school, Guidry acknowledges that the business side of art was a major challenge. He explains that creating art requires a sustainable system and finances, which led him to seek ways to support himself while pursuing his craft.
Guidry endured various jobs before his first major break in 2015 when one of his pieces was selected for the Wyndham Gardens Hotel on Pinhook Road. He reflects that while many pursue advanced degrees and professorships, his rising success and opportunities in the field provided a different, more fulfilling path for him.
“I didn’t wanna do the finances, I just wanted to create but you have to accept the fact that if you want to truly create you need to find a system and find ways to sustain yourself.”
