Welsh Cinema & Melodrama
This season, Chapter delves into the power of emotion and storytelling through film. We begin with classic melodramas that shaped perceptions of Wales in the 20th century, alongside contemporary Welsh-language cinema, celebrating the nation's present and future.
In Wales we have an inclination towards big feelings.
The program also examines how filmmakers utilized melodrama to explore complex themes, including unspoken Queer love, and the enduring appeal of vivid visuals in the cinematic experience.
Art & Events
Chapter hosts diverse artistic expressions. Sancintya Mohini Simpson’s exhibition explores themes of migration, memory, and heritage through a variety of mediums including painting, video, poetry, and performance.
Deaf Gathering Cymru
Deaf Gathering Cymru, a deaf-led festival organized by Deaf Gwdihŵ (Jonny Cotsen and Heather Williams) in collaboration with Chapter, offers a unique cultural experience. Enjoy a delicious festive meal as part of the event.
Performance & Membership
- Experience boundary-pushing live performances that blend ecological, queer, sonic, and liquid concepts.
