Phil Foden commended the entire Manchester City squad for their quality and commitment following the 4-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund. Foden scored his first-ever Champions League brace, complemented by goals from Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki. This win secured 10 points from four games in the competition this season for Pep Guardiola’s team.
The victory marked City’s sixth win in their last seven matches across all competitions. Foden highlighted the collective effort of the squad in maintaining the team's strong form.
"When there’s a togetherness and everyone’s on the same wavelength you see that in the game," Foden told City Studios after the match.
"I think there’s been some great performances from teammates this season. Everyone is playing at a high standard and when your full team is performing then you get results."
Foden added his satisfaction with the squad's application and adherence to the game plan:
"I’m really delighted with everyone, how everyone is applying the best they can, sticking to the game plan and hopefully we can keep going as a team now. We’re close to getting back to how we used to be so it’s good to see."
The Academy graduate also shared how much he is enjoying his football this season and reflected on their impressive Champions League campaign.
