In August 1974, The New York Times reported that roughly forty yogis gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the wedding of actress Sally Kirkland and musician Michael Jarrett. Her mother, also named Sally Kirkland, was a notable fashion editor for Life magazine and had shaped its style pages for years.
Although the marriage and later divorce were briefly covered in the press, there have never been any reports indicating that the actress had biological children.
According to the Daily Mail, Sally Kirkland’s entry into the spotlight began through modeling for Vogue — a path partly opened by her mother’s influence as an editor for both Vogue and Time magazines. While pursuing modeling, Kirkland studied acting under Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio, the famous training ground for some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed talents.
Throughout her extensive career, Kirkland appeared in more than 270 film and television roles. She shared the screen with such stars as Michael Caine, Goldie Hawn, Kevin Costner, Barbra Streisand, Jeremy Renner, and Robert De Niro.
“A recent report revealed that the Charlie’s Angels star had entered hospice care after a serious health ordeal.”
The news deeply saddened fans around the world. At 84, the Oscar-nominated actress is receiving treatment in a Palm Springs hospital as reports indicate her dementia has worsened.
Sally Kirkland, a veteran actress with over 270 roles, never had biological children and is now in hospice care following severe health complications.
