South Korean singer HyunA suddenly collapsed while performing at the Waterbomb 2025 music festival in Macau on Sunday, November 9. She was singing her popular song Bubble Pop! when she fainted and fell to the floor.
Her backup dancers quickly came to her aid, and security personnel helped carry her off the stage. The performance was briefly paused after the incident.
This event has raised worries about HyunA's health, as many speculate her collapse was connected to her recent rapid weight loss. Just a month prior, she shared on Instagram that she lost 10 kilograms (about 22 pounds) through a strict diet after facing pregnancy rumors following her marriage in October 2024.
HyunA has a previous diagnosis of vasovagal syncope from 2020, a condition causing sudden drops in blood pressure and heart rate triggered by stress, fatigue, or dieting.
Health experts note that losing weight so quickly can cause nutritional deficiencies and exhaustion, which likely contributed to her fainting during the performance.
After regaining consciousness and resting, HyunA apologized to her fans, known as "A-ings," via Instagram:
“I'm truly, truly sorry...”
The incident reignited discussions about the high demands and beauty standards in the K-pop industry.
HyunA’s onstage collapse highlights serious health risks tied to rapid weight loss amid intense K-pop pressures, prompting concern and apologies from the star herself.
