Former Texans star and current CBS Sports announcer J.J. Watt shared a heartfelt moment on the same field where he played for ten seasons. At NRG Stadium, Watt, 36, enjoyed time with his 3-year-old son, Koa, recalling memories from his Houston days.
“This was such a cool morning for me to have my wife, Kealia, and my son, Koa, out on the field. Obviously, so many memories in this building, so many great throwbacks, and to see him run into that end zone, the same one I’ve run into before, just unbelievable feeling this morning.”
Drafted 11th overall in 2011 out of Wisconsin, Watt quickly became a dominant force. He earned Defensive Player of the Year honors three times and was selected to the First-team All-Pro five times during his decade with Houston.
After requesting his release following the 2020 season, Watt signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. His time there was marked by a shoulder injury in 2021 that required surgery. In 2022, he revealed a serious heart condition, atrial fibrillation, which required his heart to be shocked back into rhythm.
“I experienced atrial fibrillation and had my heart shocked back into rhythm.”
J.J. Watt’s return to the Texans’ field with his family highlights the deep connection he maintains with Houston, despite the challenges he has faced in recent years.
