Kazakhstan will join the Abraham Accords with Israel in symbolic move to boost the Trump initiative

Kazakhstan to Join the Abraham Accords

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kazakhstan will join the Abraham Accords among Israel and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries. The decision represents a symbolic gesture intended to revitalize an initiative that was a hallmark of President Donald Trump’s first administration.

Officials announced the move Thursday, emphasizing that it holds mainly diplomatic value since Kazakhstan and Israel have maintained formal relations since 1992. Unlike Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates — the other Abraham Accord members — Kazakhstan is geographically distant from Israel.

These other nations established normalized relations with Israel as part of the accords, while Kazakhstan did so soon after its independence following the Soviet Union’s collapse.

The Associated Press confirmed the development through three U.S. officials who requested anonymity because the details had not yet been made public.

Trump wrote on his social platform that he had “a great call between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of Israel, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, of Kazakhstan,” adding that Kazakhstan is “the first Country of my Second Term to join the Abraham Accords, the first of many.”
