Winnipeg Jets Prepare for Game Against Anaheim Ducks

On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe provide updates including news, notes, quotes from morning skates, injury reports, and lineup decisions. These arrive a few hours before puck drop.

Jets Using Time for Preparation

Following a disappointing 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Friday, marking back-to-back defeats to start their six-game road trip, Jets head coach Scott Arniel spent Saturday in discussions with the team. He hopes the players will take action on Sunday.

“To be straight up, I had one-on-ones with players. Because we have a large number of new guys and we’re teaching them as we go, I never really got a chance since training camp to say ‘OK, this is now what I expect of you.’ And to review with our players that have been here last year, touching on the things I expect from them every night.

Each guy knows their role, what I expect and what the coaches expect of them. So let’s go out and do it as a whole.”

Injury Update

A key development at Sunday’s morning skate was the announcement that Cole Perfetti, sidelined due to an ankle injury, is set to make his season debut for the Jets after missing the first 14 games.

San Jose Sharks goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped a shot during Friday’s game in San Jose, California.
