Arc Raiders, a post-apocalyptic game blending elements of The Division and Fallout, continues to grow in popularity by reaching a new peak in simultaneous players on Steam. According to SteamDB, it achieved 354,879 concurrent players, a remarkable feat for a title that is not free to play.
Set on a devastated Earth, players face threats from massive robots called ARCs and other human scavengers competing for lost technology. Developed by Embark Studios, the creators of The Finals, Arc Raiders has already surpassed the player record of their previous game.
The game has been available for just over a week and enjoys a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. Embark Studios remains active in improving the experience, recently releasing patch 1.10 to address an exploit involving barricades at zip line exits that frustrated players.
"Some players have taken to erecting barricades at zip line exits, causing consternation and fatalities for those attempting to use them. The latest 1.10 patch puts paid to that."
Arc Raiders is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, priced at £30.99 / $39.99.
"It’s not as bad as Left 4 Dead, where the zombie team could literally block the elevator door with a piece of construction machinery, effectively ending the match."
Author's summary: Arc Raiders rapidly gains popularity with record player numbers and responsive updates, offering a compelling post-apocalyptic experience across major platforms.
