Hull KR will face the Brisbane Broncos in the 2026 World Club Challenge, marking the first time the prestigious match will be hosted in Hull. The game is scheduled for Thursday, February 19.
The event promises to be the biggest rugby league showcase the City of Hull has ever witnessed. Hull KR, led by Willie Peters, completed a remarkable treble in 2025, winning the League Leaders’ Shield, Challenge Cup, and Super League title in one season.
On the other side, Michael Maguire guided the Brisbane Broncos to their first NRL championship in 19 years after a dramatic 26–22 victory against Melbourne Storm in the NRL Grand Final.
Paul Lakin, Hull KR chief executive, said: “With offers from around the world to host the game, we are thrilled to bring the Betfred World Club Challenge home to Hull. It’s a chance for fans across the region and beyond to watch the world’s two best rugby league teams go head-to-head.”
Lakin added that February will be a landmark month for the club, with the World Club Challenge followed by the start of their Super League title defense and a trip to Las Vegas for the ‘Battle of Yorkshire’ a week later.
