Bad Company will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 8th, but Paul Rodgers has announced he will not perform at the ceremony. Rodgers, who joined the band in 1973 along with Simon Kirke, Mick Ralphs, and Boz Burrell, helped form the legendary rock supergroup.
Over the decades, Bad Company released numerous hits such as “Can’t Get Enough,” “Shooting Star,” and “Feel Like Makin’ Love.” The band sold over 40 million albums worldwide and amassed a huge fan base.
On his Instagram, Paul Rodgers shared the reasons for missing the Rock Hall event:
“My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health. I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. [Drummer] Simon [Kirke] along with some outstanding musicians will be stepping in for me — guaranteed to rock.”
Despite his absence, Simon Kirke and other musicians will represent the band at the event.
Rodgers’ choice not to attend surprised many, especially since the induction was imminent and is a milestone that many artists aspire to reach.
Simon Kirke expressed gratitude that younger artists have covered Bad Company’s songs for the new tribute album Can’t Get Enough.
