Elizabeth Olsen has always appreciated Marvel fans, but recently becoming a Dodgers superfan helped her better understand the passion of the franchise’s admirers. Ahead of her new film Eternity, in which she stars alongside Callum Turner and Miles Teller, Olsen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night.
Olsen was dressed in Dodgers gear as the team had just won their second consecutive World Series championship. She admitted feeling “overwhelmed” during the interview, especially since the Dodgers players were also guests on the same episode, giving her a chance to meet them.
Olsen explained that she only became a dedicated Dodgers fan in recent years. Fans of hers now gift her Dodgers-themed items at comic-cons, such as a Scarlet Witch headpiece painted to show Dodgers spirit and a homemade Kike Hernandez t-shirt.
“In some ways, it’s been interesting because there are Marvel fans, and so I’m on the other end of that, right?” Olsen said. “And it wasn’t really until I started, like, doubling down every year on the Dodgers for the last eight years — because it’s kind of a new thing, it wasn’t my whole childhood — that I started to realize how much I am a fan of it.”
Kimmel helped clarify her point, stating that Olsen now better understands what Marvel fans “were all screaming about.” She added it was “with love and curiosity, not in a — I wasn’t judging it.”
Olsen’s newfound Dodgers fandom has deepened her empathy for Marvel fans, showing how personal experience shapes appreciation for any passionate community.
