At a November 5 screening of her new film Eternity in Los Angeles, actress and producer Elizabeth Olsen shared with PEOPLE what helps her stay centered in everyday life.
Olsen revealed that for the past three years, she has written in a journal every morning—a habit she considers essential to her wellbeing.
“I journal in the morning,” Olsen said. “Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday. Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything.”
She explained that this daily practice allows her to process her emotions and thoughts with clarity and calm.
“You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand,” she added.
Olsen mentioned that journaling has also become a useful creative outlet, nurturing her approach to both acting and producing. She uses different notebooks for different purposes.
“It's really helpful for work,” she said. “I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for creating a character.”
Olsen attended the Eternity premiere with her husband, musician Robbie Arnett. The romantic fantasy film explores themes of time and connection—subjects Olsen finds personally resonant through her reflective writing practice.
Author’s Summary: Elizabeth Olsen credits her daily morning journaling with helping her slow down, stay mindful, and fuel creative inspiration for her film projects and personal growth.
