Boca Raton officials are actively encouraging New Yorkers and their businesses to relocate following Zohran Mamdani’s win in the New York City mayoral race. Mamdani, a young democratic socialist, secured a decisive victory over his nearest competitor, former Governor Cuomo, who ran as an independent after losing in the Democratic primary.
At 34, Mamdani will become both the first Muslim and the first Asian American mayor of the largest city in the United States. His campaign was marked by intense Democratic infighting, focusing on his ambitious policies and prior critiques of Israel and the NYPD.
Mayor Scott Singer of Boca Raton has intensified efforts to attract New Yorkers considering a move, emphasizing a business-friendly environment. The day after Mamdani’s victory, Singer posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Expected to be a busy day. Many companies have already made the move. If you’re thinking about it now, we can help!”
Singer also appeared on The Benny Johnson Show, a conservative political commentary program hosted by right-wing influencer Benny Johnson, where he invited people to relocate to Florida:
“Come to Florida. We’re here to celebrate and propel business, not overregulate it and defeat it.”
Boca Raton is positioning itself as a welcoming destination for New Yorkers seeking a more business-friendly environment after Zohran Mamdani’s historic mayoral win in New York City.
