Wendy's recently announced plans to shut down about 300 locations across the United States. This is part of a broader strategy following a previous decision to close 150 stores in late 2024.
The interim CEO, Ken Cook, spoke during the quarterly earnings call on November 7, confirming the upcoming closures and explaining their purpose.
"When we look at the system today, we have some restaurants that do not elevate the brand and are a drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective. The goal is to address and fix those restaurants."
The closures are expected to begin later this year. However, the company has not specified which locations will be affected or their exact geographic distribution.
New Jersey is home to 145 Wendy's restaurants, including many in South Jersey. It remains unclear whether any of these New Jersey locations will be among those closing.
Customers can use Wendy's official restaurant locator online to find the nearest open location.
The report comes from Williams, a Philadelphia-based journalist focused on trending news in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Wendy's plans to close hundreds of underperforming restaurants nationwide starting later this year, but specific locations, including those in New Jersey, have not been disclosed.
