PITTSBURGH — The Pitt men’s basketball team secured a 74-59 victory over Youngstown State Monday night at the Petersen Events Center in the 2025-26 season opener. This win extended Pitt’s streak to four consecutive season-opening victories, while Youngstown State fell to 0-1.
Youngstown State controlled the early moments, maintaining a lead until the Panthers seized their first advantage at 20-19 via a Cameron Corhen three-point play. Although the Penguins quickly responded with a 6-0 run, Pitt’s defense intensified and shifted momentum.
In the second half, Pitt expanded its lead to double digits. Youngstown State fought back with a six-point run, narrowing the gap to 54-50, but ultimately could not overcome the deficit.
