Antonio Brown, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver, has been extradited from Dubai to the United States in connection with a Miami shooting case, according to the Miami Herald.
Police spokesperson Mike Vega confirmed the arrest:
“Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the US. No date has been set for his transfer to Miami-Dade County,” said Vega, as reported by NBC News.
Authorities had been seeking Brown for several months related to a May 16 shooting outside an amateur boxing event in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami. Video evidence appeared to show Brown involved in a confrontation before multiple gunshots were heard.
Although Brown was briefly detained at that time, he was later released without formal charges. In June, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was offered the chance to surrender on a $10,000 bond with house arrest conditions, but he did not comply.
The former NFL star's trial is expected to begin soon, and he could face a potential murder charge. Recently, the 37-year-old posted a promotional video for online betting platform BC Game to his 15 million Instagram followers, appearing relaxed while driving a black Lamborghini at an unknown location.
Antonio Brown, extradited from Dubai, now faces serious legal trouble in Miami over a shooting case, with trial proceedings and possible murder charges ahead.
