Lucy Liu stars in Rosemead, the acclaimed debut feature from director Eric Lin, a former cinematographer. The film centers on a mother’s desperate fight to protect her son and is inspired by a true story.
Rosemead was an official selection at the Tribeca Film Festival and received awards at the Bentonville and Locarno Film Festivals. It will open in New York on December 5 and in Los Angeles on December 12, 2025, followed by a wider theatrical release.
The story follows an ailing woman who takes extreme measures to protect her troubled teenage son, portrayed by Lawrence Shou. As his behavior worsens and tensions rise in their Chinese American community, the boundaries between love and survival become increasingly unclear.
The screenplay was written by Marilyn Fu. Producers include Mynette Louie, Andrew D. Corkin, and Lucy Liu. The executive producers are Theo James, Julia Xu, San Demetrio Arte, Chris Argentieri, Frank Shyong, Jamie Lin, Peng Zhao, Chiling Lin, Je Yang, Daniela Ruiz, and Julia Gouw.
