After a challenging road loss to undefeated Harvard, Dartmouth’s Big Green prepare to face the Princeton Tigers in a tough contest this Saturday. Last week, Dartmouth fell 31-10 to Harvard’s dynamic offense and strong defense, leaving the Crimson undefeated.
Despite the loss, Dartmouth showed determination, especially in the third quarter. Head coach Sammy McCorkle reflected on the team's effort:
“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game. But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Chris Corbo ’26, a 2024 All-Ivy First Team tight end, highlighted positive aspects of the offense:
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone. We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 praised the defense’s increased quarterback pressure, hoping to repeat this effort against Princeton:
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing.”
The Big Green aim to build on their third-quarter momentum and defensive intensity as they host Princeton this weekend.
Author's summary: Despite last week's setback against Harvard, Dartmouth football shows promising signs of resilience and aims to leverage recent improvements to challenge Princeton effectively.
