Beloved Nine Star Livinia Nixon Quits After Two Decades

Channel Nine is facing a significant change as much-loved weathergirl Livinia Nixon announces her departure from 9News Melbourne after 20 years. The bubbly presenter has decided to step back from her weather role to focus on her family.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family,” Livinia said, referring to her two sons, Henry and Ted.

Livinia expressed that presenting the weather shaped her life and career, adding,

“I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”

Career Highlights and Future Plans

Livinia first joined the Nine network in 1997, gaining popularity during her time on "Hey Hey It’s Saturday" alongside game show veteran Daryl Somers. She will remain with Nine and continue her presenting duties on the network’s travel programs.

“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards,” she confirmed.

After two decades as Nine's beloved weathergirl, Livinia Nixon steps back from forecasting to prioritize family while continuing her travel show roles at the network.
