Quentin Tarantino has unveiled a trailer and release date for his new four-hour version of the cult action film. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair combines 2003’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and 2004’s Kill Bill: Vol. 2 into a single nationwide theatrical presentation for the first time.
The extended cut runs over four hours—281 minutes total—featuring a 15-minute intermission. It also includes a brand-new, never-before-seen anime sequence.
The revenge story stars Uma Thurman as The Bride, who is left for dead after her ex-boss and lover Bill (David Carradine) attacks her wedding rehearsal, shooting her and abducting her unborn child. To seek vengeance, she must eliminate the four surviving members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad before facing Bill himself.
Tarantino has discussed a potential follow-up, set two decades after the original events, exploring a period of peace for The Bride and her daughter, B.B. He mentioned casting Thurman’s real-life daughter, Maya Hawke, with a storyline where they are pursued by assassins.
“I think it’s just revisiting the characters 20 years later. Just imagining the Bride and her daughter B.B. having 20 years of peace, and then that peace is shattered and then the Bride and B.B.”
The film from Lionsgate will be available exclusively in theaters starting December.
This new four-hour film edition of Kill Bill merges both volumes with fresh content, unveiling Tarantino’s vision of The Bride’s story and hinting at a future sequel involving her daughter.
