9News favourite Livinia Nixon announces exit

Livinia Nixon Announces Departure from 9News Melbourne Weather Role

After twenty years as 9News Melbourne’s beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has decided to step back from her nightly broadcasting duties. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, November 18, while she continues other projects with the Nine Network.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Nixon, who began her career with Nine in 1997 and took on the weather presenting role in 2004, said her decision was guided by her desire to spend more time with her two sons as they begin their senior years of school.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”

Although Nixon is leaving the daily news desk, she will remain a familiar face on Nine’s lifestyle and travel programs Getaway and Postcards, continuing her long-standing involvement with the network.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”

Expressing gratitude to audiences and colleagues, Nixon emphasized that she is excited about her future with Nine and the opportunity to embrace new directions in her career and personal life.
