China announced it will prolong its unilateral 30-day visa-free entry policy for citizens of several countries, including France, until December 31, 2026. Previously, this policy was set to expire at the end of 2025.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning confirmed at a Monday press briefing that Beijing will continue the visa exemption for multiple nations beyond the original expiration date this year.

"To implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, expand high-standard opening up, and continue to facilitate cross-border travel, China has decided to extend visa-free policy to France and other countries to December 31, 2026."

Details of the Extension

The visa-free policy allows citizens from 45 countries and territories to stay in China visa-free for up to 30 days. Eligible reasons include tourism, family visits, and business activities.

New Addition

Mao Ning also announced that starting November 10, 2025, Swedish citizens will become eligible for 30-day visa-free stays in China until December 31, 2026.
