The Palestinian group Hamas sharply criticized Kazakhstan's decision to join the US-brokered Abraham Accords with Israel.
The step represents “an attempt to whitewash the genocide crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against our people in Gaza, at a time when this entity and its leaders face growing international isolation and are wanted by the International Criminal Court.”
Hamas called on all countries, especially Arab and Islamic nations, to sever all ties with Israel and avoid any normalization efforts.
Hamas urged support to “strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people and back their legitimate struggle to achieve freedom, independence, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan agreed to officially join the normalization deals with Israel. These agreements, known as the Abraham Accords, were brokered by the US during Trump’s first term to establish peace between Israel and Muslim-majority countries.
Kazakhstan’s inclusion represents a new development in these US-sponsored peace agreements.
Author’s summary: Hamas firmly opposes Kazakhstan joining the Abraham Accords, viewing it as an attempt to obscure Israeli actions in Gaza, while the US highlights Kazakhstan’s formal entry into the peace deal.
