Livinia Nixon has announced she is stepping down from her role at Nine News after 21 years but will continue working with Nine on the programs Postcards and Getaway.
Decision to Prioritize Family
On Instagram, Livinia shared her decision to step back due to the challenges of balancing work and family life, emphasizing the need to spend more time with her children.
“After two decades in the 9Newsroom, I’ve made the difficult decision to step back from my current role. As you know, the juggle of modern life is unrelenting and I need to spend more time with my boys.”
Gratitude and Reflection
She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of viewers’ lives and acknowledged the unpredictable nature of Melbourne’s weather during her forecasts.
“Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being in your lounge rooms every night… I haven’t always got the forecast right, but hey, that’s Melbourne for you! I’m so grateful for so many years surrounded by a wonderful News team and I’m proud to be leaving on a high.”
Livinia will continue contributing to Nine by filming stories for Getaway and Postcards. Her final weather report is scheduled for November 18.
“I’ll always be grateful to Channel 9 for understanding my situation and for supporting my decision. I’ll remain at 9 filming stories for Getaway and Postcards. As my boys said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
