During her match against Amanda Anisimova at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Iga Swiatek approached the chair umpire during a changeover to address the behaviour of a spectator.
Swiatek had just won the opening set on a tie-break in their crucial group match, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals. However, she was disturbed by a fan who was loudly shouting between first and second serves.
"He is clearly drunk, can you kick him out," Swiatek said. "He is disturbing the game, he is shouting during the second serve."
The chair umpire replied, "I cannot kick him out for that, I will see if we can talk to him."
Amanda Anisimova recovered from the set down to defeat Swiatek, securing a place in the semi-finals.
