After 20 years as Melbourne's beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced her departure from 9News Melbourne. She first joined the Nine Network in 1997 and had been presenting the weather since 2004.
Livinia decided to step back to focus more on her family as her sons begin their senior years of schooling. Her final weather broadcast will be on Tuesday, 18 November.
Although Livinia is stepping away from weather presenting, she will continue to contribute to the Nine Network by hosting popular travel programs.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family. Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon concludes her 20-year weather presenting career at 9News Melbourne to prioritize family but remains actively involved with Nine's travel shows.
