The Boston Bruins secured a thrilling 3-2 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden, marking their fifth consecutive victory. Pavel Zacha netted the decisive goal with just 5.5 seconds left in overtime, finishing a play set up by Charlie McAvoy.
“Charlie made a hell of a play,” said Bruins coach Marco Sturm. “For big win.”
Zacha emphasized the importance of working with McAvoy in overtime, taking advantage of the extra space on the ice.
“He’s a great skater and he beat his guy and made it a two-on-one and then he made a great play,” Zacha said. “So, I think that’s something in overtime that he used his skill and took over.”
This victory was especially significant as it avenged the Bruins’ worst defeat of the season—a 7-2 loss in Ottawa just a week earlier.
“I think that was a big motivation for us,” Zacha said. “We had a bad game there and lost pretty badly, so I think before the game we were motivated to give it back and I’m happy that we won.”
With this win, the Bruins improved their record to 9-7, continuing an impressive run with six wins in the last seven games.
Pavel Zacha’s late overtime goal, set up by a standout performance from Charlie McAvoy, propelled the Bruins to a hard-fought win that erased the sting of their previous heavy loss against the Senators.
