Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will offer free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Tuesday, November 11, Remembrance Day.
Eligible Groups
The following groups can access free transit by showing proper identification such as a badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by wearing their uniform:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
- Holiday fares apply to all other customers on November 11.
Additional Observances
TransLink also acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honouring Indigenous veterans’ sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
