Alan Carr was crowned the winner of the BBC's Celebrity Traitors series, a popular spin-off that concluded with a thrilling finale on Thursday night. Despite his success, Carr admitted he never expected to reach the final.
Comedian Alan Carr revealed that his agent had little confidence in his chances of progressing far in the competition. So little, in fact, that the agent booked him for gigs during the second week of filming, assuming he would be eliminated early.
During the finale, Carr emotionally confessed to being a traitor alongside fellow contestants comedian Nick Mohammed and historian David Olusoga. He shared with host Claudia Winkleman that the £87,500 prize money would be donated to a children's cancer charity focused on neuroblastoma.
"No, no, no, no, I did not even think I would get this far. My agent had actually booked in things for the second week saying, 'With your poker face you'll be out'."
Speaking on the visual podcast Uncloaked, Carr said:
"It still hasn't sunk in, it's insane."
He humorously described his difficulty keeping a straight face, saying that even simple everyday moments, like going through customs or seeing a "no shoplifting" sign, make him sweat because of his poor poker face.
Alan Carr’s unexpected victory on Celebrity Traitors reveals both his underestimated skills and his heartfelt commitment to donating the winnings to a meaningful cause.
