Before bidding farewell to the hit Netflix series, David Harbour strolled the streets of New York with Esquire Spain. A version of this article appeared in the November 2025 issue of Esquire Spain magazine.
On November 26, Netflix’s Stranger Things will launch its highly anticipated three-part farewell. The first four episodes of season eight will premiere on Thanksgiving Day, followed by three more on Christmas Day. The finale will air on New Year’s Eve, concluding the streaming platform’s most successful original series after a decade.
This marks the end of a long journey for Harbour, who gained worldwide fame as Hawkins, Indiana’s police chief Jim Hopper. With fans eagerly awaiting this conclusion, the latter half of 2025 has brought intense media attention. The spotlight intensified further after the surprise release of a new album last week, greatly increasing public interest in Harbour.
Before this unexpected development, Esquire Spain’s Rafael Sánchez Casademont interviewed Harbour in September to discuss his career, the bittersweet end of Stranger Things, and his future plans. The following has been edited for length and clarity.
"When I was a kid it was this magical place. I grew up about an hour outside the city, in a suburban town in Westchester."
Harbour’s fondness for New York reflects its impact on his life and career, highlighting its unique charm from childhood to his present day.
