Chris Demeropolis grew up on Cincinnati’s Westside. She studied journalism, marketing, and public relations at the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University. A chance encounter on a soccer field led her to Cold Spring, where she now lives with her husband and their two young sons, Teddy, 8, and Robin, 2.
Chris started her career working in media, public relations, and creative agencies for diverse clients. Although successful, it was always writing that truly captured her heart. As a child, she admired Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends and enjoyed creating stories and poetry in her diary.
Becoming a mother changed everything for Chris. She decided to work from home to be with her growing family, balancing freelance projects while pursuing writing that supported the household.
Her initial picture book, written for her son Teddy, still sits on his room shelf. Soon after, she authored Teddy Lou, Bell Guru, which was selected by Brandylane Publishers. The book is now available on Amazon and other online bookstores, and will be sold at the St. Joseph PTO Craft Show in Cold Spring.
The journey to publication wasn’t quick or simple. Chris recalls long walks with Teddy that sparked ideas and fueled her writing.
"Becoming a mom — a ‘game-changer’ she says — inspired her to write from home while staying close to her family."
Her work combines personal experience with a love for storytelling, making her books relatable and heartfelt for children and parents alike.
Author's summary: Chris Demeropolis blends real-life inspiration with her passion for writing in her children’s book Teddy Lou, Bell Guru, creating relatable stories for young readers.
