The eastbound lanes of SR-16 on the Tacoma Narrows span shut down late Saturday night. Traffic stopped suddenly after a warning went out. Police directed drivers on both sides of the bridge. Workers began inspecting the structure right away. No one has explained why they closed it yet. Construction teams have not announced when the lanes will reopen.
