Port Talbot station was seen at a modern enclosed footbridge with ticket office and waiting areas plus CCTV and elevators to all platforms as part of the Wales Station Improvement Scheme. The upgrade supports a park-and-ride and more car parking, along with improved facilities for cyclists, buses, and taxis. linked to wider Port Talbot regeneration efforts such as the Harbourside development and town-centre upgrades. Funding came from a mix of the Welsh Government, Network Rail, and EU and other funds, with Neath Port Talbot Council and local transport partners.
Passengers and the community of Port Talbot have been thanked for their patience after Network Rail completed its work to install a new bridge over two weekends.
