President Donald Trump signed pardons for several people convicted of Clean Air Act violations, cases involving private companies and a significant campaign contributor linked to an emissions case in Gaylord, Michigan. The White House characterized the individuals as people prosecuted for repairing their vehicles.
A federal judge released a different opinion that Trump's January 6 pardons do not cover Washington, D.C. resident Brian Cole Jr. Cole is charged with planting a pipe bomb near U.S. government property on January 5, 2021. The judge determined that the pardon language did not apply to Cole's alleged pre-riot conduct. Trump also placed a phone call to convicted Nikola founder Trevor Milton before his pardon, pointing to support from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
