Origin Energy will compensate thousands of customers throughout Australia up to 60 dollars each per account after an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission investigation into the energy market found its "Ongoing Saver" electricity plan gave incorrect savings estimates.
The regulator affirmed customers were deceived about potential savings relative to standard rates as shown in the report.
The total refund amount is 270,000 dollars, which equates to a significant payout for consumers.
Affected customers will receive payments automatically without submit claims soon.
