American billionaire Mark Cuban has suggested increasing tax rates on any company that does not offer stock options to its employees. Cuban presented the tax proposal as a strategy to tackle wealth inequality. He noted that commercial tax legislation could be used to motivate businesses to share firm equity directly with workers.
The proposal intends to make jobs better compensated by giving employees a financial stake in their company. Under the plan, companies that provide stock options to their staff would not face the higher rates. Increased tax duties would apply strictly to businesses that fail to provide equity shares to their employees.
